Taylor Adventures

We seem to always be in the midst of an adventure. We hope all of our friends and family enjoy seeing what we've been up to.

The Other Side of the Story

And so, there was half of a deer carcass on my kitchen table when I got in from work Monday afternoon........ and Brooks and I are still married.

The boys did have a good time this weekend. I learned that I could handle all of this a little better than I expected, however, the rule still applies... "You kill, you cook it." (And gut, clean and butcher it.) This city girl still has a ways to go to becoming a complete redneck. Here are my pictures from the weekend.

good day hunting

Shane and I had a great weekend. We started out deer hunting, ended up shooting some mountain quail, then we caught some nice fish in Philbrook, finally Sunday morning we went for a walk and found this guy. I have definately killed bigger deer but none as special to me as this one. Shane stayed with me the entire way and was a great help in carying my gear while I dragged the deer. I guess you can call it the mountain tr-fecta, fins, feathers and fur.

Deer Season

It is my favorite time of the year. Deer season opened on Sat. so we went up near the cabin to look for the sneaky critters. Shane and I went for about a mile long walk only to have one deer sneak out on us. We heard him but never saw him. We did end up seeing two does.

We did take time for a little science class, check out the bear tracks next to Shane,

This is my buddy Sean glassing a ridge for the big bucks that we know live there.

Labor Day Weekend

We had a great Labor Day weekend! We went to the cabin and our friends, Heide and John, came up with their daughters, Hannah and Julia. (Heide also happens to be Shane's daycare teacher.) We had an awesome time relaxing, fishing and watching the kids have a ball. The water in the lake has gone down quite a bit and the kids managed to get into a little bit of mud Saturday afternoon.

Of course, we all went fishing, too. We were at Butte Creek and both Shane and Hannah caught some pretty nice fish!

I think everyone had a really great time this weekend! What a great way to end the summer!
