Taylor's First Camping Trip

This weekend Brooks took Shane and I on our first camping trip. We stayed at the Domingo Spring Campground in Lassen National Forest. It was a very pretty campground with a beautiful meadow.

In the evening, we went for a walk in the meadow. Shane found some water to splash around in and there were a lot of pretty wildflowers (but none of the flower pictures turned out).

In the morning I was awoken to the sound of the tent zipper and Shane exclaiming, "What a beautiful sunset!" Sometimes he's just too cute!

Here we are the next morning and we were so glad because "there were no bears!" Those are Shane's words. He was a little nervous about the possibility of bears showing up during the night. We had hot chocolate and coffee by the fire and Brooks made us a yummy camp breakfast.

Shane found a way to entertain himself while Brooks and I packed up.

Father's Day at the Cabin

It was another great weekend at the cabin! The weather was absolutely perfect!

Saturday evening we celeberated Amy's birthday. And Sunday evening we had a crawdad feast for Father's Day.

Along with all of the festivities, I found some interesting things to photograph this weekend.

These are snowplants. I think they are so interesting! We found a few clumps like these one morning while we were out for a drive.

I caught this butterfly hanging from a bleeding heart.

And I caught this neat photo alongside Nick and Suzy's pond.

And of course, a fantatic sunset over the lake.

Our First Weekend at the Cabin

We spent our first weekend of the season at the cabin. It was a little bit chilly, but tons of fun. Of course there was a bit of fishing that happened and Shane put a great effort into catching crawdads.

Roosevelt always has a great time, too! What a face! Can you tell he likes to be at the cabin?

Shane had camp-fired hot dogs and we enjoyed S'mores! Yum!

First Trip to Philbrook

We made it to the cabin today! In Shane's words, "Woo-hoo!" The last part of the road was still blocked with snow, so we hiked the last part. It was beautiful up there! Brooks and Nick fished, but the fish just weren't biting today. Jill and I took Shane on a frog hunt in the channel. He found lots of frogs and one big toad! It was really nice to just hang out on the dock in the sun! We can't wait to go back already!

Shane caught a few crawdads while we were there, too!
